NET/BAG NEEDLES

We supply various types of Net/Bag Needles to repair damaged nets. Diamond Networks carries both the flat and beak type net needles as well as the steel bag needles.

Needles are often made of Nylon or Teflon material.  The Different needle sizes with relation to mesh size need to accomodate the different twine diameter and line capacity. Diamond Networks stock the flat and beak net needles along with a couple of sizes of the bag needle.

Selection of type/size is will be dependent on mesh aperture, twine thickness and twine type. Net needles eliminate the necessity of pulling through the complete length of twine whilst binding.

    ZIPS

Continuous distribution of weight over a given length makes leadrope an ideal alternative to that of individual leads for weighting the foot of a net. Lead rope is manufactured to a particular given weight over the metre - so weight accordingly to the application.

Lead Rope is a available in a Braid rope or 3-Strand construction. Braid has a jacketed core surrounding a centre bead line whilst 3 strand has the filaments laid up around the central lead filament in each strand.

These robust Zips are generally used for access/egress of cat enclosures. Zips can however be used for other purposes providing the mesh size will accommodate the zips alignment.

      FISHING NET LEADS

Net Leads are used to anchor the footrope of a fishing/Sports net. Net leads can be solid or split ie splits can be fitted post construction of a nets completion whereas the solids are fitted prior to completion. A net correctly weighted doesn't counteract the floats effectiveness unless thats the deliberate requirement eg trawl nets.

Note - recreational gill netting does not allow the construction of sink nets, so correct weighting needs to be given a little thought. We stock a variety of solid and split leads of various different sizes, types and weights. Don't forget that lead rope can also be used as an alternative to individual weights. Net type, length, application and weight placement requirements will determine your purchase. See table below to make your selection.

          NET FLOATS

Net floats are made from a wide range of materials for surface or sub-surface use. Float size and material type may well be appropriate for some uses but not for others - so talk to us. Size as well as depth are two important considerations when selecting a float. Mesh size, thickness and mesh drop will also be a deciding factor on when making a selection of net floats.

Note we also stock a range of larger floats for different uses such as markers, buoys and flotation devices. See table below to make your selection. Also available from us are the other components required to make a net should you choose to make your own.

          TWINES

Twines can be used to hang or repair nets. Twine types range from the simple mono Nylon through to the more complex plaits of dyneema. Diamond Networks sells Nylon, polyester and the tarred PE which is generally used to repair or hang a net.

Twines like ropes have specific characteristics ie some resist stretch, some absorb water and some are more suited to tying than others. Consider such things when deciding on your requirements - allow us to assist. Hanging Twine is primarily used in the Hanging of Nets ie binding top rope and footrope to mesh. Nothing binds or ties better than a Japanese Hanging Twine of this quality.  Find more information on our Hanging Twine in the table below.

          ROPE

We stock many different ropes used in Net making and other marine applications. Rope quality is essential which is the reason we  source only from reputable manufacturers. All our ropes are UV treated and are consistant in their breaking strength - sold by a cut length or coil. The selection process of rope will consider the lay, construction, charactoristics  and material type. Come talk to us we know rope!

Net Rope: Our high density PP ropes offer strength, elasticity and UV stability. Ropes do vary in quality we only source rope from reputable manufacturers. That way you can expect the rope to last and do the job for what it was intended.

            POLYSTYRENE FLOATS

Diamond Networks stocks polysterene floats of all shapes and sizes. Probably considered to be the most economical type of float to purchase as a Marker float. Not all polysterene floats are the same - we stock only the quality high density foam that doesn't disintergrate on impact.

**Remember there are fisheries requirements regarding dimensions and marking of floats for some uses.

              SUBSURFACE FLOATS

Subsurface floats are designed to resist the high pressures associated with depth whilst still providing positive buoyancy. Generally used in commercial fishing or marine research applications. These robust floats of various shapes range in depth capabilities from 300mtrs -1000mtrs.

Subsurface Floats are made to withstand subsurface pressures that would otherwise crush or implode others. See float table below to compare specifications.
